Rebecca & Becky’s LGBTQ+ Elopement at Edinburgh City Chambers
Rebecca and Becky’s Edinburgh City Chambers elopement was a wonderfully intimate celebration, with a civil ceremony in the Alexander Suite, a brilliant surprise from both of their mums and relaxed newlywed photographs around Edinburgh’s Old Town and Arthur’s Seat.
They had originally planned to marry with just the two of them, with Melanie from MHM Styling and Jonathon acting as witnesses. But when they walked into the ceremony room, they discovered both of their mums waiting there — a lovely surprise that made the ceremony even more personal.

Rebecca & Becky’s Edinburgh City Chambers Elopement
Rebecca and Becky had originally planned a very small ceremony at Edinburgh City Chambers, with just the two of them and two witnesses.
They arrived together looking brilliant in matching smart tailoring, with colourful buttonholes adding a lovely bit of personality to the day.
A Surprise Ceremony in the Alexander Suite
Rebecca and Becky were married in the Alexander Suite at Edinburgh City Chambers.
What they didn’t know was that both of their mums were waiting inside the ceremony room to surprise them.
That completely changed the atmosphere of the ceremony for the better. What had been planned as a tiny elopement suddenly became an even more emotional family celebration.
We photographed the ceremony quietly and unobtrusively, focusing on their vows, reactions, laughter and the little moments between them and their mums.
Wedding Photos Around Edinburgh’s Old Town
After the ceremony and signing of the marriage schedule, we photographed Rebecca and Becky with their mums outside City Chambers before heading into the Old Town.
We kept the photo session relaxed, using locations close to the Royal Mile before continuing on with their plans for the day.
Arthur’s Seat Wedding Photos
We also visited Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat for a final set of newlywed photographs.
The open landscape gave them a completely different look from the Old Town and City Chambers, with wide views across Edinburgh and plenty of space to create relaxed portraits without feeling rushed.
That made a great contrast with the more intimate photographs from their ceremony earlier in the day.
The pictures that we have of the day are perfect
Thank you Jonathon for creating beautiful memories for our special day. I’m not the most relaxed person in front of the camera but you really put us at ease with your professionalism, calmness and organisation. We aren’t too familiar with Edinburgh, but Jonathon managed to match how we wanted our photos to look with the best locations. The pictures that we have of the day are perfect, and they are everything that we wanted them to be. I would recommend to anyone, thank you again.
